Terms and Conditions

Confidentiality, Non-Disclosure, and Social Media Policy

The PTCA Global Bloodlines Initiative is a private, specialized service overseen by the Patterdale Terrier Club of America. Its purpose is to preserve valuable working Patterdale Terrier genetics and expand genetic diversity in countries and regions where restrictive import regulations make access to quality working bloodlines difficult.

To protect the privacy of participating breeders, the integrity of the program, and the confidentiality of international breeding arrangements, all participants are expected to comply with the following requirements:

1. Confidentiality of Program Information

All non-public information obtained through the Initiative's website, approved membership portal, private correspondence, emails, text messages, or direct communications must be treated as confidential.

2. Prohibition on Social Media Disclosure

Members and participants are prohibited from publishing, posting, forwarding, or otherwise distributing confidential program information on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, online forums, social media groups, or other public platforms without prior written authorization from the PTCA.

This restriction specifically includes:

  • Pricing for frozen semen, breeding stock, training, and international export services.
  • Private offers, quotations, invoices, payment arrangements, and negotiated agreements.
  • Screenshots or reproductions of restricted website content, emails, text messages, and private communications.
  • Non-public pedigrees, breeding plans, genetic inventory, and semen availability.
  • Confidential information concerning participating breeders, kennels, buyers, and sellers.
  • Private details concerning international transactions, reservations, transportation arrangements, and export logistics.

3. Protection of Pricing Information

All prices, quotations, and financial arrangements communicated privately through the PTCA Global Bloodlines Initiative are confidential.

Participants agree not to publish, advertise, or disclose these prices on social media or public forums without express written authorization.

4. Authorized Use of Information

Information provided through the Initiative is intended solely to assist participants in evaluating legitimate breeding opportunities and coordinating authorized international transactions.

Confidential information may not be reproduced, redistributed, or used for unrelated commercial purposes without authorization.

These restrictions do not prevent disclosures required by law, communications with legal or professional advisers, or the exercise of rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.

5. Violations and Membership Privileges

Unauthorized disclosure of confidential program information may result in suspension or termination of access to the Initiative, cancellation of future participation where permitted by applicable agreements, and other appropriate action consistent with applicable law.

Our Commitment

The PTCA Global Bloodlines Initiative exists to serve the international working Patterdale Terrier community, not to encourage public speculation, disputes, or unnecessary exposure of private breeding arrangements.

By maintaining appropriate confidentiality, we aim to protect participating breeders, encourage cooperation, and support our shared objective of establishing and preserving quality working Patterdale Terrier genetics in regions where access has historically been limited.

Return and Refund Policy

1. General Policy — All Sales Are Final

The PTCA Global Bloodlines Initiative is a specialized international breeding and genetic preservation program overseen by the Patterdale Terrier Club of America (PTCA).

Due to the unique nature of live animals, frozen canine semen, reproductive services, international transportation, and veterinary preparation, ALL SALES ARE FINAL, AND ALL DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS ARE NONREFUNDABLE, except where expressly provided in this policy or required by applicable law.

By submitting payment, placing a reservation, or purchasing services through the Initiative, buyers acknowledge and accept the terms outlined below.

2. Nonrefundable Deposits and Reservations

All deposits made toward frozen semen, live breeding stock, veterinary preparation, international transportation, export documentation, or related services are nonrefundable once the reservation is accepted and the applicable terms have been agreed upon.

Deposits secure availability, initiate administrative procedures, and may fund veterinary testing, collection, storage, transportation arrangements, and other preparation expenses.

Buyers acknowledge that the international import and export process frequently requires significant expenditures before the purchased animal or genetic material is ready for delivery.

Cancellation by the buyer, changes in breeding plans, financial circumstances, or a decision not to proceed do not entitle the buyer to a refund.

Deposits paid toward importation or exportation services are nonrefundable once those services or associated preparations have commenced, subject to applicable law.

Any refund rights arising from the PTCA's inability to fulfill an agreement, a material misrepresentation, or other legally protected circumstances remain unaffected.

3. Frozen Semen Purchases — No Pregnancy or Litter Guarantee

Frozen canine semen is a recognized and established method of preserving and transporting valuable breeding genetics internationally.

However, buyers expressly acknowledge that successful reproduction cannot be guaranteed.

The purchase of frozen semen does not guarantee conception, pregnancy, live birth, litter size, or the production of puppies.

Numerous factors outside the PTCA's control can influence breeding outcomes, including:

  • Fertility and reproductive health of the receiving female.
  • Timing of ovulation and insemination.
  • Veterinary insemination techniques and procedures.
  • Handling, thawing, and preparation of the semen.
  • Health conditions or complications affecting either reproductive process.
  • Storage or transportation conditions after responsibility has transferred to the receiving facility or buyer.
  • Other biological factors beyond reasonable prediction or control.

No refund, replacement, or credit will be issued solely because an insemination fails to result in pregnancy or because no puppies are produced.

Buyers accept the inherent biological and reproductive risks associated with purchasing and using frozen canine semen.

4. Veterinary Evaluation and Semen Quality

All frozen semen distributed through the Initiative must undergo professional evaluation by an appropriately qualified veterinarian before being released from the PTCA's control.

Where applicable, semen collection, health examinations, testing, processing, and certification will be conducted or supervised by veterinarians holding the government approvals or USDA accreditation required for the destination country.

Available veterinary documentation may include collection records, semen quality assessments, reproductive evaluations, and applicable export certification.

All semen will be reviewed for suitability for its intended reproductive use before release.

Where agreed specifications apply, the semen must meet those specifications at the designated point of release.

Veterinary evaluation confirms the documented condition of the semen at the time assessed; it does not constitute a guarantee of pregnancy, fertility outcomes, or future reproductive success.

Buyers are responsible for arranging qualified reproductive veterinary services at their destination.

If purchased semen does not meet expressly agreed quality specifications before release, the PTCA will address the matter in accordance with the purchase agreement and applicable law.

5. International Shipping, Importation, and Exportation

International transportation of frozen semen and live breeding stock involves specialized veterinary procedures, government approvals, customs requirements, and transportation arrangements.

Buyers acknowledge that international shipments may be affected by:

  • Government import and export restrictions.
  • Changes in veterinary or biosecurity requirements.
  • Customs inspections and clearance procedures.
  • Transportation interruptions or delays.
  • Required additional veterinary testing.
  • Government processing delays.
  • Airline, freight, and transportation-provider restrictions.
  • Changes in international regulations.

The PTCA Global Bloodlines Initiative will make reasonable efforts to coordinate lawful transportation and documentation as agreed.

However, specific shipping dates, customs-clearance dates, and delivery timelines are not guaranteed unless expressly stated in a separate written agreement.

Buyers are responsible for providing accurate personal information, destination addresses, contact details, and any documentation reasonably required to facilitate the shipment.

Additional expenses caused by inaccurate buyer information, buyer-requested changes, or buyer failure to comply with applicable requirements may be charged to the buyer when authorized by the purchase agreement and applicable law.

If shipment becomes impossible or unlawful, the parties' rights concerning undelivered goods and unperformed services will be determined by the written agreement and applicable law. Funds cannot automatically be forfeited merely because an international shipment fails.

6. Live Breeding Stock Purchases

All purchases of live Patterdale Terriers offered through participating kennels are considered final, subject to applicable law and the terms of the individual purchase agreement.

Buyers acknowledge that young breeding prospects are developing animals and that future adult size, temperament, reproductive performance, working ability, and producing ability cannot be guaranteed.

A young prospect is not represented as a proven working terrier unless specifically identified and documented as such.

Where a dog is sold as a proven working terrier, the seller will disclose the working credentials and representations applicable to that individual dog.

Buyers are responsible for reviewing the available health, pedigree, training, and evaluation records before completing a purchase.

There are no refunds solely because a dog fails to develop into the exact worker, producer, size, or breeding animal the buyer had anticipated, provided the dog was accurately described and all applicable legal obligations were satisfied.

Each participating kennel remains responsible for its own sales representations, contractual obligations, and legally required remedies.

7. Training and Development Services

Professional training services may include crate training, basic obedience, socialization, handling, stock-related training, and other individually agreed services.

Training payments are nonrefundable for services already performed, subject to applicable law.

Buyers acknowledge that training outcomes can vary according to the individual dog's age, temperament, development, health, and subsequent handling.

Training fees do not guarantee permanent obedience, specific working ability, or future behavior under all conditions.

If a training program cannot be completed, the service provider will address any unperformed portion in accordance with the written agreement and applicable law.

8. Buyer-Initiated Cancellations

A buyer who voluntarily cancels an accepted reservation, purchase, or service agreement is not entitled to a refund of payments properly designated as nonrefundable under that agreement, except where required by law.

Any additional cancellation charges must be disclosed and agreed upon in advance.

The PTCA and participating providers may deduct only those amounts they are contractually and legally entitled to retain.

9. Veterinary Costs and Third-Party Fees

Expenses incurred for veterinary examinations, laboratory testing, reproductive procedures, government certifications, import permits, storage, transportation bookings, and other authorized third-party services may be nonrecoverable once incurred.

Buyers acknowledge that third-party providers may maintain independent cancellation, refund, and payment policies.

The applicable purchase or service agreement will identify which expenses are included in the purchase price and which expenses are separately payable.

Any third-party fees charged to a buyer must be appropriately disclosed.

10. Storage, Handling, and Transfer of Responsibility

Frozen semen must be maintained under appropriate cryogenic storage conditions.

The purchase agreement will specify the facility responsible for storage, the agreed delivery destination, and the point at which responsibility for custody and risk of loss transfers.

The PTCA is responsible for meeting its agreed obligations while semen remains under its custody or control.

Following an agreed and properly documented transfer of custody, subsequent handling, storage, thawing, and insemination may be the responsibility of the receiving veterinary or reproductive facility.

Responsibility for damage, loss, or deterioration will be determined according to the circumstances, contractual obligations, and applicable law.

The PTCA does not assume responsibility for independent third-party actions beyond its legally or contractually established obligations.

11. No Guarantee of Genetic or Breeding Results

The Initiative is committed to preserving and distributing established working Patterdale Terrier bloodlines.

However, purchasing genetics from a proven working stud or established working family does not guarantee that resulting offspring will display particular physical characteristics, temperament, reproductive capabilities, or working qualities.

Genetic inheritance is variable, and breeding outcomes cannot be predicted with absolute certainty.

All purchasers acknowledge these inherent uncertainties.

No refund is available solely because offspring do not meet the buyer's personal expectations, provided the purchased genetics were accurately represented and supplied as agreed.

12. Incorrect Orders, Non-Delivery, and Material Nonconformity

The final-sale policy does not eliminate the PTCA's obligation to provide the agreed product or service.

If the wrong semen, incorrect donor genetics, or materially nonconforming goods are supplied, or if the PTCA cannot fulfill the agreed delivery obligations, the matter will be reviewed and resolved in accordance with the purchase agreement and applicable law.

Where appropriate, resolution may include correction of the order, an agreed substitute, replacement, or a refund.

Any substitution involving a different stud or animal requires the buyer's agreement.

Nothing in this policy limits remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

13. No Unauthorized Returns or Transfers

Frozen semen, live animals, and other biological materials may not be returned, exchanged, transferred, or substituted without prior written authorization from the applicable seller.

Due to veterinary, biosecurity, transportation, and animal welfare considerations, unauthorized returns will not be accepted.

Any legally required return or corrective arrangement will be coordinated through the appropriate veterinary, transportation, or regulatory professionals.

14. Payment Disputes and Applicable Law

Buyers agree to contact the PTCA or the applicable participating kennel promptly regarding concerns about an order or service.

We encourage direct communication to resolve misunderstandings and transaction issues.

Nothing in this policy restricts a buyer's lawful right to dispute a transaction through a payment provider, financial institution, regulator, or court.

This policy does not override mandatory consumer protections, payment-provider rules, or other applicable legal requirements.

15. Acknowledgment of Terms

By submitting payment or completing a reservation, buyers acknowledge that they have had access to this policy and agree to its terms, subject to applicable law.

Buyers specifically acknowledge that:

  • Purchases are final except as expressly provided or legally required.
  • Import and export preparation deposits are nonrefundable under the stated conditions.
  • Frozen semen does not guarantee pregnancy or puppies.
  • Semen undergoes veterinary evaluation before release.
  • International transportation involves potential delays, additional requirements, and inherent risks.
  • Young breeding prospects are not guaranteed to become proven working dogs.
  • Training outcomes and biological development cannot be guaranteed.
  • Each transaction may be subject to additional written purchase or service agreements.
